A true friend fills in the blank.
While in self-talk, a story came to mind to assess who is who and how a small act of cooperation had a huge impact on someone in dire need of financial support.
After crossing 60 and with meagre income, Mr. A came to know about a scheme to boost his monthly income, but a substantial amount was needed to kick start the scheme of lifelong benefits. Mr. A was not capable of investing that amount, and he shared his feelings with family members, but it did not work looking at the investment versus the possibility of return that was fully linked to the span of life. The scheme was very attractive. That is why Mr. A continued to work on possibilities, and incidentally, he met a junior colleague, Mr. P., and both worked out how to make the things happen. The large amount was invested by Mr. P, and the scheme started operating.
The story is not confined to simply an act of cooperation; the major driving force was to meet the genuine requirement of a senior colleague without thinking about the risk of return. Money is a big factor, but something more is required to make someone smile. Both Mr. A and Mr. P continued to meet with smiling faces, and they looked forward to the success of the scheme.
All of us get the opportunity to serve people in crisis, but we ignore them, stating that it is not our concern when their own people are not involved for their betterment.
Let the gesture appear bigger and the passion greater in order to do something substantial and free from social show. The above story is not known to many, as the intention of Mr. P was to support Mr. A, who is leading a passive life.
We have many friends of words, but hardly any friends of actions. This is the real picture of how our social systems operate in our culture.
The slogan" Press on "has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race, according to the famous saying of Calvin Coolidge.
The needy should come to us, and then we should do something to let the element of obligation prevail. It is not a noble attitude. The same act becomes glorified when we realise someone’s need from their body language and extend helping hands as an act of surprise.
Make the best use of what is in your power and take the rest as it happens, said Epictetus.
We all agree that cooperation is the key to the existence of human beings, and the experience gained from actual-life situations is far better than what we have learned from books and speeches.
Many times, we have to go beyond the framework of risks and responsibilities and create a new story.
