conveying a message of optimism
We are always advised to be realistic. In all cases, it is not possible to determine instantly what the reality is or what the possibilities are. At the outset, one must be optimistic, even if things are happening against one’s wishes. It is a fact that optimism does not allow us to fall into the trap of repressive conditions.
There is no reason to lose hope in this vast network of possibilities. Every individual is competent in some way or another to ameliorate his conditions. It is possible that we are not getting the support of family and friends, on whom we were dependent. These aspects are beyond our control. But we have control over our own minds, bodies, and decisions. Any person is able to search for options when their mainstay of living is wiped out. This is a sad moment. Now we have to exert ourselves fully on finding alternatives. It is not the moment to stay in the same state of frustration for weeks and months.
The tested formula is to live with hope and quest. It is learned through practise. Somebody is hospitalised for illness. Parallel to treatments, it is hope that helps him recover and return to normalcy.
Hope is like a light at the end of the tunnel. When we believe that darkness is a momentary phenomenon and light is awaiting us, we get our internal force activated. As a result, the pressure of darkness starts diminishing, and we get new pathways.
In a state of hope, we act to change the conditions. Optimism is a little different from hope. In optimism, we assume something favourable will happen. We just expect that our team will win despite our being away from the field of play. Obviously, optimism is an attitude.
Many factors, such as upbringing, value systems, culture, surroundings, and one’s own uniqueness, induce hope and optimism in any individual. That is why some people are visualising the worst, some are confident of the better, and the rest are neutral about the same sequence of events and stories.
It is said that we should take lessons from what has already happened, do everything that is planned for today, and expect the best in the days to come. Setbacks are happenings to all in varying intensity and form. Many people sink; some survive, and some thrive.
Hope is an inner force that keeps us moving, facing all problems without getting disturbed out of proportion. We should tell our people in distress that "these moments are not going to persist long" and normalcy is the law of nature.
Talking negativity when peace and smoothness of life are challenged is a factor that pushes the affected people more down and prepares a ground of pessimism all around. These conditions need to be altered upwardly, highlighting the positives in the midst of despondency.
