Empowering kids to shine
We love kids, but the dreams of making them nice individuals remain unfulfilled in many instances. The reason is that, as parents, coaches, or caregivers, we are not contributing sufficiently when we have the opportunities to mould them as we wish. 
Depending on culture and traditions, deficiencies in upbringing are numerous, and a few important ones are listed below:
1. We depend fully on outsiders to take care of kids for all activities throughout the day. 
2. We are imposing our own views every time, ignoring the fact that kids may not be forced to follow all our dictation, irrespective of circumstances.
3. Most of us believe in maintaining vertical relationships. In this condition, kids fail to express even genuine difficulties. This creates unnecessary distance, which is not beneficial for imbibing good things in the formative stages of the kids. Need is to promote horizontal relationship to maximum extent.
4. This is the best time to invest our time, energy, and money when there are possibilities for amazing returns. We get rid of responsibilities, using excuses like "lack of time," "kids are happy in the hostel," and so on. We are partially involved in the process of their starting to move forward. 
5. Education and health deserve top priorities, regardless of our beliefs, customs, and lifestyles. Kids start learning from people other than family members once they are allowed to leave the four walls of home. And their food habits also evolve at this age. Any carelessness has costly consequences in terms of health and making a career.
6. Aside from reading and writing skills, this is the time to make them learn social skills. Proper attention to this segment pays for the kids' whole lives. 
7. Playing with toys is not only fun but also a form of creativity, which is the foundation for inculcating an interest in innovation and the search for new things in the future. Some of us disapprove of "doing something haphazardly," which is not the right approach, when kids are trying to do some creativity themselves.
8. This is the right time to identify budding strengths like sketching, music, stories, keeping things in order, etc. It is advisable to allow kids to move toward their potential and not divert them into something that is not readily acceptable.
