From knowledge to insights, an enjoyable journey
Life is a journey. Life is tasteless if we live a limited Life. It is challenging for those who choose to lead a responsible life. Many are ignorant in many respects, but they claim to be all-knowing. Some are brilliant, but silent. A variety of people and endless characters are commonly observed in all pockets of this globe.
While talking about people who are interested in living a distinguished life, they are also not free from a series of confusions and contradictions. The remedies are there, but they are visible only to people who believe that "life is not without purpose." Such people keep searching, keep failing, keep moving, and keep growing.
As sincere people, we must start by increasing our awareness. It comes from acquiring knowledge from different sources without being too choosy. Knowledge enhances our mental power. When we apply our knowledge to address our problems and move on unknown paths, we either get through or get stopped. When we succeed, it is delightful. When we are stuck, we enrich our experiences. So, whether we pass or fail, we gain in both cases.
Knowledge without application is like gold, never used on any occasion. When knowledge is applied, it makes us powerful. It makes us wise. It opens the door to wisdom.
We are going through beautiful quotes from great people every day, particularly on digital platforms. Except for reading, there is no effort to make it a part of our behaviour, and all quotes remain just "collections" and nothing more. It is not just reading and sharing that are going to change our habits or attitudes; it is application that matters most.
Even wisdom is not enough. It must touch the shores of our understanding.
Knowing the basic rules of health is knowledge; taking care of selecting diets is wisdom; and continuing to take the right combination of diets irrespective of temptations or formalities is understanding.
There is a long journey from the state of knowledge to the state of understanding. It is understanding that determines what is acceptable or unacceptable in the given context. When we are not open to going a little deeper and examining practicality in our own conditions, understanding will remain illusive.
It is seen that we use old narratives to examine new concepts, and we obviously invite derailment to occur.
When our understanding is to maintain good health, the taste of foods cannot be at the centre of our food habits. The focus is now on the big picture, that is, health and remaining consistent in food intakes.
Simply saying "health is wealth" is of no worth until we correct our food habits. Rote learning about health becomes rotten with the passage of time.
Understanding happens only when information received by one part of the brain is accepted by another part of the brain. This process in the brain takes a long time, so we all need to persist until desirable changes in our behaviours happen.
When our understanding is put to further testing, we gain insights.
Though knowledge, wisdom, understanding, and insights are related concepts, they need to be separated to clarify how they impact our lives.
Insights are the most powerful traits, and we reach this stage only after going through self-control, continuous learning, challenging our own concepts, embracing differences, and never ever giving up hope and optimism.
We read many books to be good speakers. We use powerful words in our writing. We attend seminars. They are just part of the actual exercise. The need is to stand up before the audience and speak. This is to be repeated again and again before different audiences.
There is no substitute for practise. The number of practises depends on how we evolve as confident speakers. It may be ten times or twenty times; there are no definite outlines.
We hear and forget. We are reminded of what is to be done but remain non-serious. Only seriousness gives birth to consistency, which is a path towards achieving the goal and sometimes exceeding it.
One part of our brain decides to attend a function, and other parts of our brain direct our legs and hands to act. Both parts of the brain instantly agree, and action starts. When other parts are not agreeing, matters may be deferred or dropped. Multiple processes are going on in our brain, and we obey them, mostly unknowingly.
In sum, we are not aware of many aspects of our own lives. We don’t allow our knowledge to move up to the stage of understanding. We have not rightly realised the power of practises in our lives. We are not interested in spreading impactful living, despite having many things under our control. Start reading our own lives and decide the steps to be taken to be a person of deep understanding.
Life is happening from moment to moment. Choose to enjoy them.
