Governing one’s own life to get more
We need to live a regulated life. Randomness is not liked by any individual. We sufficiently know the rules of life but find them cumbersome to follow. We seek quick returns in all dimensions of our engagements. We love to live within a periphery, loosely agreeing with social norms and, more particularly, according to our own conveniences. Efforts are required to untangle the intricate web of prevailing conditions, social impositions, elevating lifestyles, and other facets of our culture and traditions. In all situations, self-regulation works better than regulations imposed by agencies operating within the system. Here we are considering the areas that are fully under our control. Say, ambition. Ambitions are different for different people. Even people working in the same organisation have high and low ambitions. The idea is to stay on track and get the work done. We lose track when we keep engaged in deciding what is right or wrong, good or bad, beneficial or harmful. We ourselves rank superior to others without something extra. We get trapped in the concept, perception, and other standardisation from time to time. It makes the issues full of contradictions. Now look at another dimension. It is a responsibility. There is no substitute for responsibility in any domain.
It is seen that when we stick to our responsibilities, we deliver more, even under stressed conditions. When we start comparing the parameters of performance, we stop rising above the bar.
Now come to the third dimension. Discipline is the core of self-regulation. Learn to participate in a group to make an impact on other participants. We get more confidence when we show productivity beyond the expectations of others.
Directly or indirectly, we are influenced by public opinions. In general, we consider everything people say about us. Let the people say what they want to say. It is not in our hands. Focus on our tasks and not on perspectives. It is observed that the common people change their perceptions when results are shown to them. The next important aspect is the value of time. Keep away from varying sorts of distractions. It is a great barrier to fulfilling our promises. Let the people realise that we value time. There are many other ways to be self-regulated and keep our relevance intact, wherever we are. The universal rules of life are meant to provide opportunities to go to the highest strata and not to drag us behind.
