Is being truthful having weird effects?
 ♧♧♧♧♧♧♧♧♧♧♧♧♧
We all ask others to be truthful, but we rarely examine ourselves on this count. Being truthful is not easy for many reasons. Still, the power of truth is well tested in all cultures and conditions.
Truth itself is subjective, except for truths like the shining of the sun, the races of people, and the extreme love of a mother that are eternal.
While explaining the truth, we must know:
It is an interpretation of a situation.
It is incomplete without context.
It varies as we go into greater detail.
Only natural operating systems are everlasting.
There are more arguments and debates all around us because we insist on what we have been taught at home, school, and in society. We know that what we know is true. We are reluctant to come out of our own frame of mind. The error lies here.
"All you know is what you think you know, but that is not always what is real." Carrie Vaughn
At times, we are not transparent in our statements, fearing that they may hurt others or destroy our calmness. It is an incomplete and faulty approach. When we are not truly expressing our health issues, the therapist is likely to miss the right diagnosis and remedies.
Learn to be transparent, and in effect, most of the issues are almost addressed without extra effort.
We live in groups, work with people of different mindsets, and face new challenges one after another. We have clashes of opinion and contours of experience. In these complex situations, defining right and wrong, just and unjust, subjective and objective, is too hard. Deciding what is true or untrue takes major parts of life, and in many instances, we remain wandering in the darkness and ambiguity without touching reality.
Facts are not fixed, and they change as knowledge advances. Whatever we get as information is likely to be mixed with assumptions and biases. So the remedy is to cross-examine all aspects of figures and facts before making them part of our beliefs and principles.
Without context, the content is most likely to be misunderstood. What I am writing right now is content that is based on many contexts I have experienced in my life. People may differ as their experiences are not the same.
Coming back to the topic, a highly important point to repeat is the calamity of not telling the truth despite knowing it. We are afraid people will be angry, disturbed, or disagree, or we may be odd men out. Possibly, we may also lose our image in public.
To be concise, it demands courage to be truthful. There are likely to be unfavorable consequences to divulging the truth at present, but suppressing the facts is surely going to be more harmful sooner or later, as the studies suggest.
The truth is mighty, and it can’t be buried forever. Hundreds of lies may keep the truth undiscovered today, but it will come to light in months, years, or later at any time.
Be clear: what I know is true for me today. Transparency demands that I express fully what my information is and inquire further if anything more is required to make the facts substantial and free from controversies.
We know many terms, like honesty, integrity, and sincerity, that we use in our daily affairs. However, truthfulness is at the center of all these traits.
"It is better to be divided by truth than united by error." Bruce Bickel
At the start of anything, we must examine how truthful we are in terms of our own intentions, feelings, actions, care, appearance, and so on. Truthfulness builds our characters. When things go wrong, we start weighing actions in light of morality. Is it not so?
We pay the price for being truthful today, but deviation from reality has been found to be more costly for the rest of our lives.
There is no need to keep records of telling the truth, but we have to remember all lies to avoid contradictions.
==========
In short
========================
Fairness in our day-to-day activities deserves top priority. Sometimes, this approach may even be humiliating, but it will boost our strength to manage the storms of life later on. Fairness pays, and people count our fairness as our first trait in dealing with them.
The truth hurts, but temporarily. Lies may shift the trouble today, but danger always persists.
Be sure, the truth can’t be denied for long.
