Lessening the burden of bad stories
Something wrong happened in the days gone by. These are our experiences. Some of us have taken lessons from those incidents and found ways to move forward without wasting time in shame and regret. Many of us have allowed these memories to stay in our minds just to make us timid and oversensitive.
Life is full of good or bad stories when weighed from the angle of social norms and ethical rules. Today, we can’t erase the errors and maladies of the past. Use them as moments of learning and construct our future, taking full care not to repeat what is still moving as horrors in our mind.
The best course is to decide how to make today and tomorrow more aligned with our mission and vision, or at least productive. Today we have time to do something tangible and make plans for a better tomorrow. Focus on the tasks before us and keep our minds away from jumping into the bad stories. When we view games of interest, we are least distracted. The same intensity is required to accomplish our own tasks, with which we are engaged.
We keep old clothes separate and keep fresh clothes on the front. Likewise, we have to create good stories in our lives to throw bad stories to the wind.
Every day, we get a chance to write good stories of lives, as a writer adds something good to the book in the making. A simple piece of advice has solved an issue for a disturbed individual. It is certainly a good day, both for the adviser and the receiver of the fruitful suggestion. It is a good story for both of them.
A simple step gives an amazing result. After only one year of full-time study, a student ranks high in the competition and has a great story of his life, though he was never a good student before this episode.
At times, just reading how a person has faced scarcity and loneliness before coming to a remarkable level sends a lot of vibes to our mind to do something noticeable.
In creating impressive stories, consistency is key. Ignoring adverse comments from outsiders, accepting who we are, never feeling inferior, not jumping to premature conclusions, being attached to processes, and least bothering with consequences pays off immensely.
It is never too late to do something tangible. Even in our 60s, most of us are full of energy and the will to create new tasks and accomplish them for the greater good of others around us.
In sum, don’t be glued to unpleasant stories. Instead, glue ourselves to the narrative that we are competent enough to do far better than what we have done so far. Our lives on this earth demand more.
