Opinions are not essentially facts.
Facts are ordinarily truths, coming out of realities. The facts remain the facts at all times. Curiosity to learn in human beings is a fact. Yes, data-based facts vary from time to time and place to place, such as the human development index, the hunger index, and so forth. In a day, we usually interact with people around us more than other engagements. We get their opinions in one form or another. Most of us treat those opinions as facts and apply them to handling day-to-day affairs. It creates a lot of uneasiness and becomes a source of controversy every now and then. The basic error lies in accepting the opinions without verifying them by any available means. Convenience seekers are more likely to be trapped by the opinions of others. Seeking opinions is not bad. Cross-checking those opinions is a minimum requirement to know the factual positions along with the merits and demerits of any person, any system, any organization, or any other matter. Where the literacy rate is low, opinions play havoc in the areas of beliefs, traditions, relationships, self-awareness, mannerism, rigidity, the blame game, and many other aspects. Opinions are required to make decisions because we can’t always refer to the rule and the law. However, taking steps towards issues impacting our future courses of action needs close scrutiny, and they should not be allowed to be based on only opinions. The wildest forms of opinion are designed by mischievous people to inflict damage on a family, social group, or even on a larger scale. We must be thoroughly careful and use our strengths of alertness to counter all these social drawbacks. Facts can be ascertained by just asking a few questions. A little digging into the matter makes it crystal clear. Avoid being unilateral while looking at something. Don’t be judgmental without knowing the details. Listen to the people who are well informed. Awareness is the antidote to floating opinions. Be a fact-finder more than an opinion-finder.
