possibility of writing distinct stories
Regardless of the class we belong to, our lives are full of events and stories. Some are good, some are bad, and many are unnoticeable. Practically, stories are coloured by social norms and standards. Our parents tell stories of our childhoods, teachers talk about behaviours in schools, and colleagues talk about our approaches and strategies in our 20s and 30s.
It is true that we can’t rewrite what happened in the past, but we can put ourselves in a distinct mode as we go forward. We have the time to replace bad habits with good ones, to change the wrong priorities, to protect ourselves from negative people, to work on our strengths, and so on. It is simply a matter of our decisions to be a better version from time to time. There are some obstacles, as pointed out below, to editing ourselves by making additions, deletions, and alterations to our lifestyles, acknowledging that we are not okay even in our fundamentals.
1. We are placing ourselves in just one category and find no need to improve. We don’t think we may be wrong in our analysis and probing of issues.
2. In any domain, where we are, there are numerous gaps. It is our responsibility to fix those gaps one by one. Even our image in the eyes of the public may be erroneous and based on misinformation. But we need to correct ourselves first.
3. We are acting as per our random thoughts and clicking on some ideas. The thoughts that stay in our minds are transformed into perceptions. We seldom reexamine our perceptions.
4. Negativity is a dominant factor that is preventing us from gearing ourselves up. Negativity is freely available, while positivity is a hard-earned trait. We fail to realise the impact of negativity on our day-to-day affairs. Negativity has settled in our minds for years. It cannot be driven out in a few attempts. A long exercise may yield the desired result.
5. We are not ready to gauge situations free from bias and prejudice. Our assumptions and assessments are tied to our principles and values.
6. No matter what we do, we get tired and bored every time. We don’t know how to make our work exciting.
The list is long. There are additional factors that prevent people from being forward-thinking. Once we decide to shift to writing good stories, all obstacles become irrelevant.
Stories are made of our actions. They are tangible. Talking about theories and formulas is not going to create stories. So start acting on goodness without waiting for a particular moment to begin. Pages of our rest of our lives are blank.
