The status quo blocks progress.
We all love progress in our chosen direction. We all make progress in varying degrees, barring the people who resist change. A good number of people don’t agree that change is fundamental to everything that exists on this planet. It is ignorance of the highest order. Our own bodies are not the same, and change is taking place every day. Whatever and wherever we are, there are open opportunities to make progress and achieve far better.
We are educated because we attended school. It is a change. We are entrepreneurs because we have chosen a career. It is a change. One day, someone decided to be a content creator, and he became a writer. It is a change.
The same way of living for a longer period of time is described as "status quo". It is practically a condition of no exposure to changing surroundings and minimal interaction with the outside world.
"There is one thing worse than change, and that is the status quo." John Le Carre
The people living in specified conditions are afraid of many things, including falling from the sky if something wrong happens. They hate anything uncomfortable like food, bed, room temperature, work schedule, change in team, and so on. They cite values and traditions as reasons for not being ready to say goodbye to the "status quo". They play it safe to ensure a hassle-free life. They don’t know they are not on this earth just to survive; they are here to enjoy the gifts of nature all around them.
Many weaknesses are inherent in human behaviour, and they need to be challenged to clear the path for progress. These weaknesses are aggregated in the form of the "status quo ".
Difficulties are to make life better. They are in no way impediments to our progress. It provides opportunities to look at things from different angles. Difficulties compel us to devise means to overcome them.
People who are not willing to change give maximum time to stretching the problems. They are not solution-oriented. They are unaware that even disasters come with some possibilities for remaking them in better ways.
Life has to be full of responsibility, not anxiety. People in the group of "unwilling to change", learn to live a life with minimum responsibility, and therefore everything looks insurmountable. They overthink and finally do nothing.
Life is giving us a message every time to come out of present conditions and dare to enter uncharted territories. But we are ignoring them. We feel disturbed when we leave the shore of our living conditions. But practically, it is temporary, and reajustment happens in a short while.
Life needs to be learned and allowed to grow in this world of possibilities. In this process, it is always better to ask questions than make wild guesses.
"He who asks questions does not err easily." Mexican proverb
Stagnant people are similar to non-flowing waters. Their whole days are consumed by routines and engaging hot topics. There is no initiative on any front.
"Action will remove the doubt that theory can’t solve." Tehyi Hsieh
People of the status quo are quick to decide what is right or wrong, just or unjust, rewarding or defunct, without knowing the details of anything.
Any project is uphill until we start working on it. The way is to initiate the process, take small steps, and go full steam ahead. Be more committed to assignments than emotions. Our outreach may begin with the minimum we have.
Read something daily to stay in regular touch with what is happening at different levels. It is a way to recognise gaps in our understanding.
People are not inclined to change positions because they think mistakes are bad for their image. It is the wrong notion. We all make tonnes of mistakes in our pursuits. Let it happen. It is a mistake that alerts us to learning how to shift to another strategy.
Action is a must to see if something is possible or not. Do one thing at a time and evaluate whether we are heading towards our goal.
Let us conclude that we can all move forward in life if we decide to embrace change in all spheres.
