The thirst for immediate gain spoils the game of life.

We all like to gain in all walks of life. It is a healthy desire. But in most endeavours, it takes years to reap the benefits. At times, we fail too. We are also rejected while dreaming of a job. Life’s games aren’t just numbers. It’s like many signs on a keyboard, even with more permutations. For the same amount of time, energy, and focus, results are quite different for people engaged in the same pursuit with the same set of outside factors.
We have invested 20 years in education to get engaged in some rewarding and honourable activities in the onward journey of life. Is it not an illustration of the value of "waiting" in our lives?
We learn a skill, language, or etiquette over the years to be well-adjusted to the prevailing systems. Is it not revealing that life demands a good time of preparation to face the games of life ahead?
Some people compare a lot and invite frustration instantly if things are not moving smoothly. In cases of delay in coming up shining, they give up their career and jump to others.
A change of pursuit is a welcome move, provided there is sufficient reasoning for doing so.
Just look around and see that people are happy with limited income and influence, and many are unhappy even if they are on a higher level of recognition. Life is not a geometric line that starts at one point and ends at another. Nothing is straight in our lives. It is full of turns in all directions.
There must be a resolution to be in a field of choice for sufficient time, and if necessary, intensify the efforts instead of jumping to other streams. There are instances when people have decided to change the goalpost when they were close to reaching it.
Nature attracts our attention, demonstrating that the sun, moon, stars, rivers, seas, mountains, and deserts are displaying themselves in order and that nothing is crossing what is prescribed for them. They teach us how to be consistent in our line of action.
Studies suggest that people are more interested in outcomes than the depth of preparation for anything to accomplish. Preparation is fully in our control. Outcomes are surrounded by many variables, like the qualities of other aspirants, shifts in trends, the impact of technology, belief systems, social norms, and so on.
Many instances suggest that we are capable, but more efforts are required to succeed. It is the core of the whole story, elaborated herein.
Let us have a vision of what is likely to happen in the next 20 years. Decide to do something more than ordinary in the next five years. Again, divide that target by five to outline what is to be done in a year. Go down to quarterly, monthly, and weekly slots as per the type of project or design on which we are working. In this process, there is no space to be depressed for anyone or the possibility of giving up any path mindlessly.
When times are tough, we have to be more sticky with our projects on hand. The spread of roots helps a tall tree face the storm, though branches face the toughness of the weather. For humans in general, ethics, fundamentals, and inner strengths are the roots that support facing adversity.
Let us review and redesign our amount and direction of effort, looking at the pace of progress. Don’t change the goalpost all of a sudden or in case of a delay in outcomes.
Discuss more about what is in our control and less about outside forces. People are more concerned about factors influencing our results, though they are not in our control. Prudence necessitates the disclosure of one’s strengths.
Let us work every day. Choose the field of choice, taking all pros and cons in mind, and learn to stay with that, applying effective strategies, to be a winner in a reasonable period.
